David Pidgeon

The son of a mathematician and of Anglo-Italian descent, David Pidgeon has embarked on a journey in design that is influenced by the way he sees the world. David Pigeon pursues diversity in clients and output, which in turn employs a curious mix of playful yet intelligent, precise yet intuitive responses. He has pursued experiments in typographic form since studying at Swinburne University, and this is one of the creative threads that draws his work together.

David's approach to solving design problems has rewarded him well and his work has inspired the attention of peers and critics alike.

In 2002 he was approached to create a book for the Royal Australian Institute Architects, celebrating 75 years of the Victoria Architecture Awards. The subsequent publication, Judging Architecture, initiated both a re-judging and re-photographing survey of the collective 75 years on. David also curated an exhibition of the project at Heide Museum of Modern Art, of which his company GollingsPidgeon is a principal partner.

David runs a successful and fruitful design practice and with his good fortune, he has reinvested his time back into local industry. In 2005 he was elected Victorian State President of the Australian Graphic Design Association and sits on the National Council.
